Statement on the August 2026 Nepal Flood Disaster

Our hearts go out to everyone affected by the devastating August 2026 flash floods that swept through the Bhotekoshi and Trishuli river systems in Nepal. As we witness the heartbreaking loss of life and extensive damage to homes, infrastructure, and livelihoods, we stand in deep solidarity with the impacted communities.

Disasters like this are a stark reminder of how climate change, glacier instability, and extreme hydrological events are placing increasing pressure on Himalayan communities and other vulnerable regions around the world.  This highlights the vital need for robust environmental monitoring, early warning systems, and stronger disaster preparedness.

We are actively exploring ways to support relief and recovery efforts and will share additional resources and opportunities to help as more information becomes available.
